Facebook page or website: what does a contractor need?
A Facebook page is good for staying in touch with people who already know you. A website is better for winning people who don't: it's where strangers from Google decide whether to call, and you own it. Most trades businesses do best with a website as home base and Facebook alongside it.
What a Facebook page does well
- It's free and quick to set up.
- Posting photos from a job takes a minute from your phone.
- Neighbors can share you in local groups, which is where a lot of word of mouth happens now.
- Customers can message you there.
Where a Facebook page falls short
- It's built for posts, not for answers. A homeowner wants to know if you do their job, in their town, and how to reach you. On Facebook that's buried under the feed.
- It isn't yours. Facebook sets the layout and the rules, can change them any time, and can restrict or remove pages. If your page goes, your reviews and followers go with it.
- Not everyone uses it. Plenty of customers don't have an account, and Facebook nudges visitors who aren't logged in to sign up.
- It looks less established. When customers compare businesses, a real web address on the truck and the invoice signals you're here to stay.
How to use both
- Make your website the place that answers everything: services, towns, reviews, how to reach you.
- Put your website address in your Facebook page's details and your Google Business Profile.
- Keep posting job photos on Facebook, and add the best ones to your website now and then.
- Use the same business name, address and phone number everywhere.
Common questions
Is a Facebook page enough for a contractor?
It's enough for staying in touch with past customers, but usually not for winning new ones. People who find you on Google want a site that quickly shows your services, your service area and how to reach you, and a page you control.
Can my website show my Facebook posts?
It can link to your page so people can follow you. We keep the site itself fast and focused on getting the call, and add your best job photos to it directly.
I already have a Facebook page. Can you use it to build my site?
Yes. Paste the link when you ask for your free Preview. We use your Google listing, your Facebook page, your real reviews and your own photos to build it. Nothing is made up.
Turn your Facebook page into a real website.
Send us the link. We'll design a free Preview and send you a private link to look it over.
